Nashville Or Bust

My name is Amanda Maree Bare and I'm a 22 year old Country singer-songwriter in hopes of becoming a professional musician in Nashville, Tennessee.

Make sure to click on the ReverbNation button at the bottom to listen to my music!

So. It’s been a little while. Hi again.

I’m in Nashville, by the way. “Whaaatttt??” is what you’re probably saying. But I’m here! And despite my financial woes and my poor car constantly falling apart, I couldn’t feel any better about my decision to move here. This place has an energy and vibe that is unexplainable, and I think I’m finally getting into the groove of it all.

I have already performed an open mic night, and considering how nervous and intimidated I was, I think it went over pretty well. Everyone had left by the time we (as in my roommate and I, who is also an incredible musician) finally played, but all ten of the audience members clapped. I even got a holler! I plan on making people holler more often in the future, just through music though. Don’t get any weird ideas.

So as little of an update as this is, it’s an update none the less and I promise there will be more of them. I have a surprisingly busy life for a musician and writer who isn’t on the road touring or promoting their number one album. I hope you all haven’t forgotten or given up on me yet, I’m still here and trying to make life work for lack of a better explanation. Keep tuning in and I’ll keep trying to find ways to entertain y’all. But again, don’t get any weird ideas.

Hey Amanda! I just was visiting Reverbnation listening to different local artists throughout the RVA area and came across your profile. I love music and have been singing myself since I was young (I am 32 years old now =) I think you have such a GREAT sound!!! I could see you going very far!! Just wanted to let you know my opinion!! =) -Noelle (twitter: noelleloving) and (linkedin: noelleloving)

My answer:

This is really, incredibly sweet! Thank you so much for the kind words, I always appreciate it! I’m taking a tiny break from music for a bit but I will be sure to let you know when I record again!

So much has happened since I last posted, so I’m going to list out what’s been going on rather than typing up a novel.

  • Some sad news, my mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has a really big chance of survival, so I’m not too freaked yet; it just came at super inconvenient timing because..
  • I’m moving to Nashville! At the end of the week! Aaahhh! I’m moving in with an old classmate from high school, and we are both super duper excited.
  • I’ve gone from totally broke to having the perfect amount of money to pay for everything necessary. Phew.
  • Some surprising internal family issues have been mended, which is just beautiful to me. It was a long time coming.
  • I’m running out of things to list..
  • We were going to sell our Hammond organ, but upon setting it up and playing it, we decided to keep it. I learned how to play the Beverly Hills Cop theme song.

I’m sure much more happened, including old people coming back into my life for short periods of time, and new people coming into my life for short periods of time. BUT I really need to get to packing and cleaning out my car to get going. I am thrilled to finally get to Nashville, but there’s so much work to do in order to accomplish my goal of being a professional musician in said city, so I’m keeping the blog alive in the meantime. Although, I’ll probably be super MIA until we get some internet in our apartment.

So much to do, so little time. See y’all in Nashville!

I’ve been playing the hell out of this for the past week. I guess I’m using it as some kind of escape from my current situation. I think if I could run away to Hyrule and save the princess myself, or take photos of a hiding Bulbasaur or sleeping Snorlax, I’d do it in a heart beat. But for now I’ll just wait it out and until we get some news, I’ll go to work, come home, have a glass of wine, and play N64 ‘til I get carpal tunnel.

So I thought I had made the Ask button available before, but I just realized today that it wasn’t working! Well, rest assured, it is up and running and you can finally ask all the questions or leave all the comments you’d like.

As of right now, a lot is going on for me, so I haven’t been updating like I usually do. I have a big move in the works that is so super duper mega exciting that I can’t even talk about it. There is also some very bad news my family and I have had to deal with of recent. I guess that’s just the wonderful, terrible balance of life. But I will update with any news at all as soon as I receive more information.

Thanks for sticking around :)

Not much going on for me right now. Just moved back home, still settling down a bit. But this is what I’m doing at the moment; hope it sings you to sleep tonight.

My trip to Nashville was highly successful.

In my usual style, I would write a long post explaining every detail about the trip, but I’m actually in the process of moving out of my current apartment in Atlanta, Georgia and moving up North to settle down again amongst family and friends. In other words, my job is over, and it’s time for me to move on! Which is great, though, because I’ve been writing and writing and spending so much alone time working on music that I’ll now have the time and ability to put all this work into action: I’m recording an EP!

I will say a couple things about the trip before getting back to that.

My time in Nashville was unforgettable; I witnessed and enjoyed more live music in two days than I have in years, got drunk (for lack of a better explanation) in a real, live honky tonk, and met some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting as well as getting together with an old friend to see him and his band put on an extraordinary show. The whole city is full of an incredible, indescribable energy and vibe, and I am so very much looking forward to eventually settling down there. If you get a chance, check out James Wallace & the Naked Light; you will not be disappointed. If you want to see some more photos from my trip, you can check them out my music Facebook page!

Once I finish this blog post, I am unplugging my computer and packing it into my car, as well as the rest of my belongings. I’ll be stopping by Virginia Beach first to spend time with a good friend, and then I’m heading straight to Richmond to get down to business on this record. There are a lot of things that need to be done in order for the project to get started, and it will be very time and money consuming, but I am thoroughly looking forward to the entire process! I will absolutely be documenting every moment of it, and will update with more information once I am settled back at home.

Keep your ears and eyes open for some cool stuff ahead, and I’ll see you tomorrow in Virginia, folks! Thanks for all the love and support, always.

So it looks like I’m going to Nashville this weekend?!

I received an offer from my boss to accompany her on a trip to Nashville this weekend to help watch one of the kids for a couple hours each day. The upside is that, not only will I be paid for the three day weekend, I have the rest of the days all to myself, all meals are paid, and, best of all, I’M IN NASHVILLE!

I’ll be staying in a hotel too nice for a girl like me, and I’ll be within walking distance of major record labels and production companies. Pretty intimidating. But this trip will be strictly about checking out the city, the music scene, and soaking in everything Nashville has to offer. I’m thinking of it as a mini precursor to moving there for good; I’ll gain my bearings and prepare myself for the big jump in the future. But I am majorly excited.

I’ll make sure to post photos and a summary of the trip upon my return. See you in Music City, lovers and friends!
